Dear Chair Chung and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Lawrence L. Heintz to the Board of Ethics.
Since 2010, Mr. Heintz has been an Emeritus Professor of Philosophy after being a part
of the University of Hawai'i at Hilo faculty for 30 years. He also serves as a Consulting
Medical Ethicist at Hawai'i Medical Center. Mr. Heintz earned a Doctor of Philosophy
degree from the University of California, Santa-Barbara.
Between 1996 and 1998, Mr. Heintz'served on the Governor's Blue Ribbon Panel on
Death with Dignity in Hawaii and currently sits as a member of the Board of Trustees
for Hawai'i Medical Center Foundation.
Mr. Heintz indicates that he is not a member of any political party. If confirmed, he may •
serve a term that expires December 31,,2023.
