Re: Amend Ordinance 18-74
Attached for your consideration is a bill for an ordinance to amend Ordinance 18-74
which established the General Excise Tax surcharge for Hawai`i County. This would
• consist of increasing the one-quarter percent(0.25%) surcharge specified in this
ordinance to one-half percent(0.5%) beginning on January 1, 2020. Additionally, this
bill repeals the December 31, 2020 surcharge-termination(sunset) date set in
Ordinance 18-74 and establishes a new sunset date of December 31, 2030.
