Dear Chairman Arakaki and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to submit the nomination of Robert K. Yanabu
for the position of Chief Engineer of the County of Hawaii.
Mr. Yanabu is a licensed civil and structural engineer in both
Hawaii and California.
He has been employed in the Department of Public Works for
24 years, and for the past siz years has been a special
projects engineer assigned to administer and manage several new
highway and flood control improvement projects as well as
assist with programs and projects in the Department's Solid
Waste Division.
Prior to his special projects assignment, he was a supervisor
in the Department's Engineering Division, which was previously
known as the Bureau of Plans & Survey.
Mr. Yanabu is well qualified to head our Department of Public
Works and I ask for your favorable consideration.
