Your Committee on Public Safety, to which was referred Communication No. 51,reports as
follows:
Communication No. 51, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated December 27, 2018, nominates
Thomas Brown to the Police Commission.
Mr. Brown stated a few words expressing his pleasure and honor to volunteer to serve on the
Police Commission. He has been retired for the past seven years and is looking forward to giving
back to the community by being available to hear raised concerns. He will also be able to assist
with the budget and filling of vacancies.
Council Members as a whole are in support of the nomination. Chair Villegas stated that
Mr. Brown is not required to appear before the Council for final approval.
The Committee on Public Safety is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 51, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Mr. Thomas Brown to the Police
Commission.
