• � , f• <br /> _ <br /> (--- <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII •: • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 46 i9 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE MERRIE <br /> MONARCH FESTIVAL TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE REPAIR <br /> OF THE AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM AT THE AUNTY DOTTIE THOMPSON <br /> HALE. <br /> WHEREAS,the Merrie Monarch Festival is a 501(c)(3)nonprofit organization that <br /> perpetuates the memory and legacy of King David Kaldkaua through an internationally <br /> renowned annual celebration of hula and Hawaiian culture; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Merrie Monarch Festival is the main tenant of the Aunty Dottie <br /> Thompson Hale, located at the Ho`olulu Complex in Hilo; and <br /> WHEREAS, after years of declining performance,the air conditioning system at the <br /> Aunty Dottie Thompson Hale failed in 2018, requiring costly repairs; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Merrie Monarch Festival is requesting assistance with the significant <br /> costs related to the repair of the air conditioning system at the Aunty Dottie Thompson Hale; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Parks and Recreation supports clean, safe, and well- <br /> maintained facilities at Ho`olulu Complex; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> 1 Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to the Merrie Monarch Festival to assist with expenses <br /> relating to the repair of the air conditioning system at the Aunty Dottie Thompson Hale. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
