,1MtY OF M,�1 <br />�•L 4 <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />art uF•M►.•N <br />RESOLUTION NO. 47 <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />ig <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO 'A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BETTY C. <br />KANUHA FOUNDATION, INC., TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH <br />THE WEST HAWAII COMMUNITY BEACH CLEANUP. <br />WHEREAS, the Betty C. Kanuha Foundation, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />whose purpose is to promote educational opportunities, academic enrichment, and scholarships <br />for a better life and future for the children in the community; and <br />WHEREAS, the Big Island Wave Riders Against Drugs, along with numerous <br />organizations and community groups, are coordinating the annual West Hawaii Community <br />Beach Cleanup between Puako and Miloli`i, which will take place on March 2, 2019; and <br />WHEREAS, the Betty C. Kanuha Foundation, Inc., promotes inspiration in youth by <br />supporting special events such as the annual West Hawaii Community Beach Cleanup event that <br />beautifies our coastline; and <br />WHEREAS, the Betty C. Kanuha Foundation, Inc., is requesting funds for expenses for <br />radio advertisements, t -shirts, lunch, and goodie bags for each participant of the beach cleanup; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support public and <br />youth programs that promote alcohol- and drug-free events, such as this beach cleanup initiative <br />to provide a safe and healthy environment for the community; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br />therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Betty C. Kanuha Foundation, Inc., to assist with <br />expenses associated with the West Hawaii Community Beach Cleanup. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
