RESOLUTION NO. 49 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BETTY C.
KANUHA FOUNDATION, INC., TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH
THE WEST HAWAII COMMUNITY BEACH CLEANUP.
WHEREAS, the Betty C. Kanuha Foundation, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
that promotes education, community awareness, and the importance of a clean environment
through alcohol- and drug-free community projects; and
WHEREAS, the Betty C. Kanuha Foundation, Inc., is co -sponsoring the West Hawaii
Community Beach Cleanup on March 2, 2019, with numerous organizations and community
groups; and
WHEREAS, the West Hawaii Community Beach Cleanup will include County and
State beaches stretching over 60 miles of coastline from Puako to Miloli`i; and
WHEREAS, the Betty C. Kanuha Foundation, Inc., is requesting funds to purchase trash
bags, gloves, food, and drinks associated with this event; and
WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support alcohol- and
drug-free events that provide a safe and healthy environment for learning; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Betty C. Kanuha Foundation, Inc., to assist with
expenses associated with the West Hawaii Community Beach Cleanup.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
