RESOLUTION NO. 50 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO GOING HOME
HAWAII TO SUPPORT ITS IN-REACH AND REINTEGRATION PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose purpose
is to reintegrate former offenders into the community and the workplace; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i works in collaboration with more than 50 public and
private entities to provide a variety of support services to former offenders, including housing,
case management, and referrals to mental health and/or substance abuse treatment programs; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i's In-Reach and Reintegration program provides
services for male or female offenders who are charged or convicted with nonviolent offenses,
suffer from mental illness, and are incarcerated or at-risk of incarceration at the Hawai`i
Community Correctional Center; and
WHEREAS, Going Home Hawai`i is requesting funds to assist with housing subsidies
for its In-reach and Reintegration program; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney is to support
programs that improve the criminal justice system by identifying areas of need and working
collaboratively with other criminal justice agencies and the community by employing early
intervention initiatives to improve the quality of life on Hawai`i Island; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Going Home Hawai`i to support its In-reach and
Reintegration program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
