The Office of the Corporation Counsel requests the Council's approval to hire
Napoli Shkolnik PLLC and its local counsel, the HI Accident Law Center, with any
and all compensation to be provided from potential settlement or award amounts.

Bill 19: AMENDS CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE 45 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983
(2016 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO THE GENERAL EXCISE AND
USE TAX SURCHARGE
Increases the general excise and use surcharge from one-quarter percent to one-half
percent beginning January 1, 2020, and amends the sunset date of December 31, 2020,
to December 31, 2030.
