Re: Resolution Changing Position FTE Status
The Department of Liquor Control is requesting to change the FTE (full-time equivalent)
status of a Liquor Control Investigator II from a full-time position to become a half-time
position. This change is being requested in order to provide better coverage to perform
evening and weekend investigations of alcohol dispensers by splitting the full-time
position into two part-time positions.

A. REQUEST:
Change in position's full time equivalency to 1/2 time.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Liquor Control Investigator II position #00-02118 is currently a vacant, full time position in West Hawaii.
The position grade is SR-18. This position is funded. The incumbent to this position was promoted to Liquor
Control Investigator III, SR-21.. West Hawaii has a majority of the liquor dispensers in the County. Most
alcohol dispenser business takes places in the evening and specifically during the weekends. The creation
of two (2) halftime positions for this purpose would provide better services to our liquor licensees and to the
public. Funds that would cover the salary for one full time employee can cover two (2) half time positions. If
necessary, the department is willing to increase its budget to cover fringes and benefits for an additional
part-time employee.
