Re: Resolution Creating a Position
The Department of Liquor Control is requesting to create a half-time Liquor Control
Investigator II position. This addition is being requested in order to provide better
coverage to the Kona area to perform evening and weekend investigations of alcohol
dispensers. The funds for the salary for this position will be realized by downgrading a
full-time Liquor Control Investigator II position into a part-time position.

A. REQUEST:
Create a new part-time Liquor Control Investigator position.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
West Hawaii has the majority of the liquor dispensers in the County. Most alcohol dispenser business takes
place in the evenings and significantly during the weekends. The conversion of a full-time position to two (2)
part-time positions will hopefully help put additional manpower when most needed, mainly weekend
evenings. Creation of this part-time position would be part of a plan to change Liquor Control Investigator II
position # 00-02118, a full-time, funded position, into 2 (two) part-time positions. Funds that would cover
one full time employee can cover 2 (two) part-time employees and if needed, fringes for an additional
employee will be covered by the department.
