Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawai`i Department of Transportation is providing $96,943 to the County of
Hawai`i to support the Hawai`i Fire Department's Highway Safety Grant–Cordless
Extricate Kits program. These federally-derived funds will allow the Department to
increase its ability to extricate victims from vehicular crashes.
Enclosed is a resolution accepting this grant award. Also enclosed is a bill for an
ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $96,943 grant.
The Hawai`i Fire Department is requesting that this resolution and bill be waived from
the Finance Committee and be placed on the February 20, 2019 Council agenda in order
to expedite the receipt of these funds. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to
call Melanio Lorenzo of the Hawai`i Fire Department at 961-2921.
