A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO ASSIST THE HAWAII FIRE DEPARTMENT
WITH EXPENSES RELATING TO THE BIG ISLAND JUNIOR LIFEGUARD
PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department, Ocean Safety Bureau, is tasked with the
development and delivery of ocean safety operations and public safety education programs,
utilizing a team of highly skilled and dedicated Water Safety Officers to maintain safety services,
promote preventative actions, and facilitate basic emergency life support functions; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department and Hawaiian Lifeguard Association are
cosponsors of the Big Island Junior Lifeguard Program, which teaches participants ocean safety
and beach rescue skills, including an introduction to water safety, first aid, cardiopulmonary
resuscitation (CPR), and surf rescue techniques; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department is requesting funds to assist with expenses
related to the -Big Island Junior Lifeguard Program; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Fire
Department to assist with expenses related to the Big Island Junior Lifeguard Program.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Fire Chief and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby
authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
