COUNTY OF HAWAII •� V STATE OF HAWAII <br />f,Tt OFNF'' <br />RESOLUTION NO. 82 19 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO LA`I`OPUA 2020 FOR <br />THE 2019 PRINCE KUHIO HO`OLAULE`A. <br />WHEREAS, La`i`Opua 2020 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that promotes unity <br />by establishing social, educational, recreational, medical, and cultural services, programs, and <br />infrastructure that assist the residents of Hawaii County; and <br />WHEREAS, the 2019 Prince Kuhio Ho`olaule`a will be an alcohol- and drug-free event <br />scheduled for March 23, 2019, at the West Hawaii Community Health Center and La`i`Opua <br />Community Center to honor the legacy of Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalaniana`ole Pi`ikoi, the first <br />royal native Hawaiian delegate to the United States Congress; and <br />WHEREAS, this event will bring numerous social and educational stakeholders together <br />to share and provide information from health, education, and social services, and provide a <br />family fun event for adults and children; and <br />WHEREAS, La`i`Opua 2020 is requesting funds to pay for publications, postage, food, <br />and other expenses associated with the 2019 Prince Kuhio Ho`olaule`a; and <br />WHEREAS, one of the Department of Liquor Control's goals is to support programs that <br />promote alcohol- and drug-free activities, such as the 2019 Prince Kuhio Ho`olaule`a; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br />activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; and <br />WHEREAS, Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to <br />the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant to La`i`Opua 2020 for expenses associated <br />with the 2019 Prince Kuhio Ho`olaule`a; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that the <br />following amount is hereby transferred/appropriated as set forth below: <br />
