Subject: RAISING THE GET TAX-We have no objections.
Date: Monday,February 18,2019 11:18:56 AM
Aloha Council Members, c):

We have no problem with the GET. Obviously with the after effects of the Kiluaea'e c
eruption, including the loss of so much revenue, the county needs more income.
When people tell me they are upset about this proposal I ask if they are willing to be c—")
`sic,
volunteer firemen or be trained and deputized to help the police. Perhaps they would like =
to close the county parks? No more recreation programs? Should we drop the Seniors -
programs?
Several people mentioned tourists will have second thoughts about coming here because
the hotel rooms would cost more. We went across Canada by train (getting on/off at
several cities plus national parts) about 8 years ago. The hotel taxes were high at the time
... I just remember being a bit shocked ... it was a heck of a lot more than our hotel tax.
Mahalo for all your hard work,
Gail Jackson
