Aloha,my name is Lee McIntosh.I am a small business owner located in Kau that opposes raising the GET once
again.The GET taxes my gross income,unlike other taxes.The majority of my customers are seniors on fixed
incomes,which prevent me from raising my rates.So not only are you taxing my gross income,but you are also
taxing me again on said income when I purchase anything,turning my and any sole proprietor's rate into a 8.5%tax
rate.The GET is a regressive tax that affects everyone,not just businesses or tourists.In fact,an audit showed that
tourists only paid 14.1%of the rail surcharge,which means residents paid the other 85.9%.The GET is an
ineffective tourist tax! If you are searching for potential revenue sources,I encourage you to read the report that will
be released shortly by the Cost of Government Commission.Please exercise courage and restraint and vote against
bill 19! Mahalo for considering my testimony.
