SUBJECT: RESOLUTION FOR A SIGN VARIANCE: Kona Hospitality, LLC.

SPECIAL DESIGN DISTRICT
Pursuant to Hawaii County Code (HCC) Sec. 3-22(a), I am forwarding a completed
application for a sign variance. The owner of the property is Kona Hospitality whose
agent is:Fritz Harris-Glade whose phone number is (808) 896-9003. The applicant is
requesting sign variance(s) for (2) wall signs and (2) ground directional signs.
The proposed (2) wall signs are located above the main entrance at the second floor
and approximately 3 feet above the third floor level along the east property frontage.
And (2) ground directional signs will be placed at a maximum height of 48" above the
ground at the two property access points along the Sarona Road.
Per Sections 3-6(b)(3), 3-58(b)(c), 3-60(a), Hawai'i County Code, only one ground sign
shall be permitted per lot. If the lot frontage is greater than thirty lineal feet, a directory
sign may not exceed twenty-two square feet or fifteen percent of the wall area on which
it is located. A directory sign, either wall or ground sign, shall not exceed sixteen square
.feet in the Kailua Village Core.
