WHEREAS, RICHARD CHONG, an employee of Yamada Transfer,
Inc. , has unselfishly and graciously devoted his time and
energy in various sporting activities and events; and
WHEREAS, RICHARD CHONG is currently serving in various
capacities in the following sports organizations: Player-agent
for the Hilo Pacific Little League, Coordinator for the Waiakea
Nakoas Pop Warner Football Club, Basketball Coordinator for
the Waiakea Nakoas, President of the Senior Little League,
Director of the Waiakea Pirates Athletic Club, Adviser to
the Waiakea Pirates Colt League Organization, and President
of the Waiakea Nakoas Pop Warner Football Booster Club; and
WHEREAS, RICHARD CHONG, a man who spends three-fourths
of his leisure time each year assisting youths in the various
athletic programs, has enthusiastically and with untiring
dedication served and promoted sporting events for the entire
Big Island sporting community; and
WHEREAS, RICHARD CHONG has been deservingly named as the
"Sportsman of the Year 1974" for being a "Sportsman" in the
truest sense of the word,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it does hereby congratulate and commend
RICHARD CHONG for being selected by a distinguished panel
of judges as the "Sportsman of the Year" for 1974.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be instructed
to forward a true copy of this resolution to RICHARD CHONG.
