WHEREAS, JOH HAYASHIDA, a student at Hilo High School,
has collected some 30 first places and broken more than a
dozen State and County swimming records, many of them his
own, in 1974 competi tion; and
WHEREAS,►, JON HAYASHIDA, as an outstanding 16--year old,
competed in the 15-17 year old age group; and
WHEREAS, among JON HAYASHIDA`s "long list" of first place
achievements in 1974 alone are: (1) 100 freestyle County
record swim of 52.6 seconds, (2) 200 butterfly State swim record
of 2:16.17, (3) 100 backstroke County swim record of 1:14.9,
(4) a record 200 individual medley swim of 2.11. 7, and (5) a
record 100 freestyle swim of 53.2; and
WHEREAS, JON HAYASHIDA has the distinction of being named
by a distinguished panel of well-known Big Island sportsmen as
"Athlete of the Year 1974" for his tenacious determination
and prowess in swimming,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it does hereby congratulate JON RAYASHIDA
for being named 'Athlete of the Year" for 1974 and wish him
greater success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk be instructed
to forward a true copy of this resolution to JON HAYASHIDA.
