may be a better one in which to live; and
JN 1 KAI 's record of community involvement
is rich in numerous civic, athletic, and professional activities ,
a few of which include being President of the Hamakua Jaycees
Little League, President of the Ilamakua Lions Club, player,
coach and umpire of several Honokaa teams and leagues, chief
negotiator of the qtate of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers
(SHOPn) for the niq Island, and having been nominated Outstanding
Young Law Enforcer and County Employee of the Year in 1.973 , and
WHEPEAS, JOHN K. KAI 's outstanding service and leadership
was recently recognized when he was named the Distinguished
Service Award Winner by the Hamakua Jaycees ,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUrCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF IThwa.TT that it extends its heartiest cone7ratulations and its
warmest "Mahal°. for the many worthwhile and enduring contributions
he has made and is continuing to make toward the betterment of
