KEKUA held the rank of Captain in the Army National Guard, and was a member of the U .S . National Guard Association, Hawaii National Guard Association, Hawaii National Guard Movement Control , American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars; and WILEREAS , JOHN C. ICEKUA, a long-tire sportsman, was an active chairman of the Committee to revive Canoe Racing in Hawaii ; chairman of the Hawaiian Youth Welfare Committee ; sports activity coordinator for youths in Teaukaha , Panaewa , and LEnakila; and was a member of the Hilo High School Chorus Club and. the school ' s boosters Club for football ; and WHEREAS, all of Hawaii County is Oeryply sadden& by the death of this esteemed friend in the prime of his career, NOW, THEREFORE, BE, IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it wishes to express its sincerest condolence on behalf of the people of the County of Hawaii to the entire Pekua family. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this resolution to Mrs . Kuaana Kekua with deepest sympathy from the County of Hawaii.
