�JNtV u`\, ''''' <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII :•_ � • STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 97 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO NA MAKA HALOA 0 <br /> WAIPI`O FOR ITS "KUKULU KUMUHANA 0 PUNA" YOUTH PROGRAM. <br /> WHEREAS,Na Maka Haloa o Waipi`o is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose <br /> purpose is to preserve and restore indigenous Hawaiian culture, farming traditions, fishing <br /> practices, and hula; and <br /> WHEREAS,the mission of Na Maka Haloa o Waipi`o's "Kukulu Kumuhana o Puna" <br /> youth program is to perpetuate the practices of the indigenous culture of Hawai`i and to advocate <br /> for the well-being and future of Hawai`i's youth and our environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, the "Kukulu Kumuhana o Puna" youth program includes educational <br /> workshops and activities promoting economic development and global awareness through <br /> Hawaiian culture, language, values, and traditions; and <br /> WHEREAS, the "Kukulu Kumuhana o Puna" youth program has a youth mentorship <br /> component that collaborates with youth peers from other areas of Hawai`i, several states, and all <br /> over the world, which includes Aotearoa, Tahiti, China, and Korea; and <br /> WHEREAS,Na Maka Haloa o Waipi`o is requesting funding assistance to purchase <br /> educational materials and supplies, as well as to cover travel expenses for field trips and site <br /> visits and other miscellaneous costs associated with its "Kukulu Kumuhana o Puna"youth <br /> program; and <br /> WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support alcohol- <br /> free and drug-free community programs; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Na Maka Haloa o Waipi`o for its "Kukulu Kumuhana o <br /> Puna"youth program. <br />
