RESOLUTION NO.

WHEREAS, Hilo High School's Distributive Education Club
of America (DECA) was named the outstanding club in 1974-75
State Conference competition; and
WHEREAS, competition among public schools is held annually
in search of outstanding participation and achievement; and
WHEREAS , Hilo High School's DECA, under the skillful
supervision of Mrs. Arleen Yoshimura, placed in six of the
possible nine categories of competition; and
WHEREAS , Lynette Manliguis, Steven Pavao, Linda Wagatsuma,
and Henry Yang placed first in their respective categories, and
Jacqueline Alicuben, Janice Aoki, Debbie Gomes , and Deorna Ikeda,
also qualified as winning participants; and
WHEREAS , an Outstanding Service Award for participation in
DECA was awarded to Hilo High School's DECA club ' s advisors ,
mr. and Mrs . Glenn Yoshimura; and
WHEREAS, a considerable amount of preparation is essential
to the attainment of excellence in one's planned vocation; and
WHEREAS, the goals of DECA are to develop leadership and
distribution of skills in each of its members and to serve one 's
fellow human beings in a personally satisfying manner; and
WHEREAS, friendship established through DECA are developed
in fair competition and willingness to help fellow members ;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it takes this means to congratulate the Hilo
High School DECA Clu?, and its hardworking members for being
recognized as Hawaii 's Distributive Education Clubs of America
Outstanding School Club of the year.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit copies of this
resolution to the Hilo High School DECA club, its advisor,
Mrs . Arleen Yoshimura, and the principal of Hilo High School,
Mr. Richard Matsunaga.
