HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 371 Draft 01 1972-1976 RESOLUTION NO. frt WHEREAS, physical and mental development of our youths has been a crucial factor in producing a well-adjusted and vigorous citizenry; and WHEREAS, WILNETTE WILSON, a 17-year-old Hilo High School senior, has achieved an outstanding record in academics and athletics ; and WHEREAS , WILNETTE WILSON has especially excelled in athletics wherein she became the first persor to bring a State high school singles tennis championship to the Big Island; and WHEREAS , the competence of WILNETTE WILSON in the field of tennis has been such that she has been competing with men tennis players; and WHEREAS , WILNETTE WILSON has set an example to all Big Island youths that the climb to the pinnacle of any sport is not impossible; and WHEREAS, WILNETTE WILSON will enroll in the fall at the University of Hawaii - Manoa on the basis of a tennis scholarship she just received, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends its sincerest congratulations for a growing record of achievements to WILNETTE WILSON. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Council extends its warmest wishes to WILNETTE WILSON for continuing success in her participation in the upcoming State Jaycees Junior Tennis Tournament and the National Junior Competitions on the mainland. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit true copies of this resolution to WILNETTE WILSON; to her parents .. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Wilson; to her personal coach, Don Holden; to her team coach, Dino Bondallian; and to Hilo High School, in recognition of WILNETTE WILSON's notable accomplishments.
