RESOLUTION HO. Lte:1
WHEREAS, the United Public Workers (UW) , Local 646, is
celebrating its 31st Anniversary on April 19, 19757 and
WHEREAS, the UPW since its inception on January 27,
1944, has played a vital role in achieving dignity and
respect for the individual working man; and
WHEREAS, the UPW has fostered improved governmental
service and contributed greatly to the social and economic
well-being of the State; and
WHEREAS, the many contributions of the UPW to our society
have been made possible because of persons like JACK YONNO,
who has dedicated his services to the working man; and
WHEREAS, JACK KOHN°, who has served the membership
well in the handling of grievances, workmen's compensation,
and other responsibilities, is now serving his second term
as State President of the UPW; and
WHEREAS, the people of the County of Hawaii sincerely
appreciate the responsible leadership of the UPW in the field
of labor relationship in our community and wish to congratulate
the UPW for its successes and advancements during the past
31 years; and
WHEREAS, the people of the County of Hawaii wish to
extend their gratitude to JACK KONNO for his many
contributions to labor,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THIS COUNTY COUNCIL
extends to the UPW its warmest "aloha ' and heartiest
congratulations upon the celebration of its 31st Anniversary.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Council extends
to JACK KONNO its warmest and sincerest congratulations
upon being named "UM, Local 646, Member of the Year. "
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County
of Hawaii is hereby directed to send a copy of this resolution
to Mr. Jack Konno; Mr. Jackson Ah Chin, Business Agent, Hilo;
and to Mr. Henry Epstein, State Director of the United Public
Workers.
