the Eth Class Crder Hokansho Award
is bestowed upon Japanese 1,'omen living abroad who
promote the goodwill and culture of their motherland ;
and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Kin Oshima, a resident of Paukaa,
Hawaii, has been officially recognized h the Japanese
Government, Foreign Affairs Department, as deserving
of this honor; and
1:EREAS, Mrs. Ida ,ishi.ma has actively contributed
through he endeavors, the preservation of carious
Japanese arts and language La Hauaii; and
WHEEEAS, Mrs. Kin Oshima was a Japanese language
instructor for over 40 years and the principal of the
Hilo Nihonjin Gakko; ailf.,
iik..REAS, Mrs. kin ushima has pLovided LnsttacLional
guidance for the Kokinkei Club on flower arrangement
and Bonkei culture-cecorative Japanese painting
trays and dishes; and

tducation to teach adult classes in various districts
of tne Island; and
WHEREAS, Mrs. Kin Oshima' s effc ts in Hawaii
reflects one woman' s sincere desire to perpetuate and
advance Japanese culture as a means of preserving a
proud and historic oast.
NOW, THERLIORL, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL
OL THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extends to
Mrs. Kin Oshima warm congratulations on being named
the recipient of the 6th Class Order Kohansho Award
by the Government of Japan.
