RESOLUTION ;k:Tt
WHEREAS, the AJA Baseball Senior League was
established as a tribute to the dedicated service of
Japanese-Americans who served during the second World
War; and
WHEREAS, the Big Island 1975 AJA Baseball
Championship was captured by the Asahi' s baseball team
with a 12-0 win-loss record; and
WHEREAS, the Asahi' s baseball team traveled to
Maui on April 5 and 6, 1975 to compete against other
championship AJA teams from Oahu, Kauai and Maui for
the State title; and
WHEREAS, the Asahi' s opened the first round of
competition with an 8-2 victory over Oahu and romped
to the championship in the finale by rolling over
the Maui aggregation by a 10-0 tally; and
WHEREAS, Asahi' s team members, Robert Okajima and
James Miyake garnered individual honors by being named
Batting Champion and Most Valuable Player, respectively;
and
WHEREAS, the Asahi' s victory marked the second
consecutive year that a Big Island team has won the
State AJA Baseball Championship;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVES BY THE COUNCIL OF
THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that it takes these means to
congratulate the Asahi' s for winning the State AJA
Baseball Championship.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the
County of Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit
copies of this resolution to Asahi managers
