Dear Chairman Chung and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Dean Au of Council District 3 to the Windward Planning
Commission. Mr. Au is a self-employed contractor and a Representative for the Hawai'i
Regional Council of Carpenters* Hilo Field.
Mr. Au is a lifelong resident of Hawaii and active in his community. He volunteers much
of his time with Hawaii Island Food Basket, St. Joseph Schools and St. Joseph Church,
Hawai'i Island United Way and Hawai'i Island Humane Society. He previously served
on the Windward Planning Commission and the Board of Appeals.
Mr. Au states that he is a member of the Democratic party. If confirmed, he will serve a
five-year term that expires March 31, 2024.
