WHEREAS, the Distinguished Service Awards for Outstanding Per-
formance of Duty are presented annually to a member of the Fire and
Police Departments of the four Counties in Hawaii by the Board of
Underwriters of Hawaii and the General Insurance Associations of
Maui, Kauai and Hawaii; and
WHEREAS , Officer Patrick F. Cootey of the Hawaii County Police
Department was selected as one of the Big Island' s 1975 recipients
of this much coveted award; and
WHEREAS , as a 5-year veteran of the Police Department,
Officer Cootey is credited with exercising extraordinary initiative ,
often on his own time, furthering his assigned investigations
resulting in the closing of a high degree of cases involving burglary
and drug law violations ; and
WHEREAS , his aggressiveness as a police officer and his demons-
trated ability to work well with others has done much to instill
team effort and cooperation among his fellow officers in criminal
investigations ; and
WHEREAS, Officer Cootey's high regard of loyalty to departmental
policies and devotion to duty make him a truly outstanding Policeman
and a deserving choice for the Distinguished Service Award.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it takes this means to extend its sincerest congratu-
lations to Officer Patrick F. Cootey of the Hawaii Police Department
for being named a recipient of the 1975 Distinguished Service Award
for Outstanding Performance of Duty.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii
be and is hereby directed to transmit a true copy of this Resolution
to Officer Cootey.
