Subject: Public Safety in Fern Acres

I am hereby submitting written testimony in regards to security in our neighborhood, Fern
Acres in Mountain View.
We have an increase in drug related crimes. We, as a community, are exhausted. We have
constant drug traffic across the street from our home and there are many more 'hot spots' it •
our neighborhood. `o=.

We have had multiple robberies related to drugs. We have been threatened with physical
harm to our bodies.
My husband and I and many of our neighbors who work are afraid to leave their homes
because someone may break into our houses in our absence.

We don't have regular police patrols due to a limited budget for our police force. Our local
officers are amazing individuals, but they are overworked and can't keep up with the to —
population explosion and increased crimes.
We need to allocate funds that are proportionate to the increased population and direct more
officers to areas with higher crime.
The laws should also be addressed regarding prosecution. Many offenders are quickly released
on low bail just to come back to our community and terrorize us.
Repeat offenders should be given higher or no bail and locked away.
We pay our taxes to be able to live secure lives without being in constant fear of being robbed
or harmed.
The taxes are hard earned by us, yet we have no protection.
We request that appropriate amounts of funds are allocated to our local police force and that
we will have again regular police patrols in Fern Acres.
