Aloha,
Consider this for a moment.You live in a beautiful rural neighborhood in Puna.
You work,raise your family,give back to the community,retire and live peacefully for the remainder of
your life.
Your dreams are shattered by crime and violence.
Resolution 065 addresses what is happening in our communities.
Within the past years burglaries,home invasions,trespassing,thefts,vandalism and random acts of violence
are an everyday part of our existence in Puna.
With the growth of population and more troublesome the proliferation of'drug houses'that openly deal
dangerous drugs to addicts is an escalating problem in our communities. Lack of police presence is one of
the major factors contributing to our current lawless state in Puna.
When calling 911 we are often told there are no police officers in the area and response time will be 2 to 3
hours at best.
The thieves know this,and driven by their addictions have become emboldened to commit truly heinous
acts to feed their habits.
Imagine always having a contingency plan for some sort of back up to secure your home when you go to
work,run errands.Always in the back of your mind hoping your home is safe.
Resolution 065 must be considered,funds must be made available to law enforcement to combat crime and
to ensure their safety while performing their jobs.
Mayor Kim,you have always run on a platform to do what is best,with whatever it takes,to serve
your constituents. We need your support to make Resolution 065 reality.
