RESOLUTION NO. 105 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KEALAKEHE HIGH
SCHOOL GRAD FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO ITS 2019 KEALAKEHE PROJECT
GRAD EVENT.
WHEREAS, Kealakehe High School Grad is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
comprised of parent, student, and community volunteers who work toward providing a safe
location for the graduates of Kealakehe High School to celebrate with their friends and enjoy an
all-night alcohol-tobacco-and drug-free event; and
WHEREAS,the goal of Kealakehe High School Grad is to provide healthy and fun
activities that will ensure the safety and well-being of the graduating class of Kealakehe High
School; and
WHEREAS, the 2019 Kealakehe Project Grad event will take place on Saturday, June 1,
2019 from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.at the Kekuaokalani Gymnasium,the Kona Community Aquatic
Center, and the KBXtreme Family Entertainment Center; and
WHEREAS, Kealakehe High School Grad is requesting funds to help pay for meals, and
various combinations of entertainment such as live band or DJ, dancing,bowling, swimming,
gym activities,rock wall climbing, karaoke, arcade games, and other activities determined by the
graduating class; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations and programs that
promote the health, safety, and welfare of the community; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program,project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 7 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Kealakehe High School Grad to assist with expenses
relating to its 2019 Kealakehe Project Grad event.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
