JMtYf0s kq <br />cP <br />COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br />OVA - <br />RESOLUTION NO. :12 19 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE PAHOA <br />SCHOOLS SUPPORT FOUNDATION TO ASSIST WITH PAHOA ELEMENTARY <br />SCHOOL'S FIELD TRIPS. <br />WHEREAS, The Pahoa Schools Support Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br />organization whose purpose is to supplement and fund activities that promote educational <br />opportunities for the students attending public schools in Pahoa; and <br />WHEREAS, Pahoa Elementary School students have suffered excessive trauma due to <br />the school's close proximity to the eruption events of Kilauea volcano in 2018; and <br />WHEREAS, Pahoa Elementary School has been assisting the students with recovery and <br />resiliency through educational activities that focus on Hawaiian culture and Hawaii Island; and <br />WHEREAS, Pahoa Elementary School would like to expand its classroom activities and <br />provide an opportunity for its fourth- and fifth -grade students to learn about the eruption events <br />and Hawaiian culture and history at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and The Kohala Center <br />Test Garden in Honoka` a; and <br />WHEREAS, Pahoa Elementary School has limited funding for extra -curricular activities, <br />and The Pahoa Schools Support Foundation is requesting financial assistance with covering the <br />costs of transportation for Pahoa Elementary School's field trips; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports alcohol -free and drug-free <br />events that will improve the quality of life for our communities; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 4 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to The Pahoa Schools Support Foundation to assist with Pahoa <br />Elementary School's field trips. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
