--„-.,-1...0.;.:,,,,,,...., _ <br /> ; : ..,,,-.. vs,:: <br /> „qVOF N ,'I. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII - 44 " /i•'- STATE OF HAWAII <br /> '''....41;i0/1 <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 114 .19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE AMERICAN <br /> NATIONAL RED CROSS TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE HOME <br /> FIRE CAMPAIGN. <br /> WHEREAS,the American National Red Cross is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that <br /> prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies through its local chapters, <br /> including the American Red Cross of Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS,the American National Red Cross has established a Home Fire Campaign <br /> initiative that takes proactive steps with the aim of reducing instances of home fire deaths in <br /> Hawaii County; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Home Fire Campaign assists with the installation of free smoke alarms, <br /> the replacement of smoke alarm batteries, and provides fire safety education in the homes of <br /> vulnerable populations such as the elderly and disabled; and <br /> WHEREAS,the American National Red Cross is requesting funding assistance to assist <br /> with staff salary to administer the Home Fire Campaign program, which includes recruiting, <br /> training, and deploying volunteers to assist with the installation of 300 smoke alarms in Hawai`i <br /> Island homes, and helping residents formulate their fire safety plans; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hawai`i Fire Department supports an aggressive approach to public <br /> education regarding fire prevention and life safety awareness; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Hawai`i Fire <br /> Department to provide a grant to the American National Red Cross to assist with staff salary <br /> relating to the Home Fire Campaign program. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
