'ATE CF•HF,�- <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 123 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO BIG ISLAND <br /> RESOURCE CONSERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT COUNCIL FOR THE 35TH <br /> ANNUAL QUIKSILVER/BIG ISLAND TOYOTA PRO-AM SURFING TRIALS.. <br /> WHEREAS,the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development Council <br /> (BIRCDC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that conserves, enhances, and promotes the <br /> economic, cultural, and natural environment of Hawai`i; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is working in partnership with the Quiksilver/Big Island Toyota <br /> Pro-Am Surfing Trials Committee to promote, produce, and coordinate the 35th Annual <br /> Quiksilver/Big Island Toyota Pro-Am Surfing Trials, which typically runs from May through <br /> September; and <br /> WHEREAS,the 35th Annual Quiksilver/Big Island Toyota Pro-Am Surfing Trials <br /> promotes surfing as an important international sport with Hawaiian cultural origins and also <br /> supports Big Island youth in a drug-free and alcohol-free event; and <br /> WHEREAS, BIRCDC is requesting funds to cover the costs for trophies, t-shirts, and <br /> two special-duty police officers for the 35th Annual Quiksilver/Big Island Toyota Pro-Am <br /> Surfing Trials; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports this event as it is in keeping <br /> with its goals to promote safe, healthy, drug-free, and alcohol-free community events; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Big Island Resource Conservation and Development <br /> Council for expenses relating to the 35th Annual Quiksilver/Big Island Toyota Pro-Am Surfing <br /> Trials. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
