Dear Chair Chung and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Melvin Ventura to the Merit Appeals Board.
Mr. Ventura is employed by Hawai'i Community Federal Credit Union and currently
serves as the Executive Vice President. He is a graduate of Pahoa High School, holds a
master's degree in accounting and a bachelor's degree in finance from the University of
Hawai'i at Manoa.
As the past Chairman of the Hawai'i County Tax Board of Review, Mr. Ventura has a list
of community service, which includes being a member of the Rotary Club of Kona
Mauka and Kona Jaycees.
Mr. Ventura states he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve
to fill a term ending December 31, 2022.
