Resolution No. 367
WHEREAS, on March 25 and 26, 1975, the United
State Senate Committee on the Interior and Insular
Affairs, will be conducting public hearings to
receive testimony on the subject matter titled the
"Hawaiian Native Claims Settlement" , and
WHEREAS, this Committee composed of United
State Senators Messrs. Daniel K. Inouye, Hiram Fong,
will be seeking information relative to the merits
of this consideration; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council, is in
accord with the basic intent of the Hawaiian Claims
Settlement Bill now pending before the United
State House of Representatives, which seeks redress
through the Congress of the United States for just
reparations for the loss and displacement of lands
which once belonged to the Natives of Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council, is hopeful
that this esteemed Senate Committee will be convinced
upon seeing and hearing the people of Hawaii, that
legislation supporting this movement would be
worthy and deserving for the United State Senate to
consider;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of
the County of Hawaii that we are confident that the
profound spirit of Hawaiian Aloha will prevail during
this visitation, and that the Hawaii County Council
wishes to extend to the Senate Committee on Interior
and Insular Affairs success in securing meaningful
data and a pleasant and safe visit during their stay
in Hawaii.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that true copies of this
resolution be sent to Senators
