Resolution No. 481
WHEREAS, H.R. 1724 , introduced by the Honorable Patsy T.
Mink, U.S . Representative, seeks to amend Section 403 (c) of
the Federal Aviation Act of 1958 (49 U.S.C. 1373 (c) ) ; and
WHEREAS , H.R. 1724 provides for a mandatory 60-day
notice period prior to a change in any rate, fare, or charge
specified in any effective tariff of any air carrier or
foreign air carrier; and
WHEREAS, the 60-day notice period, instead of the
present thirty, will provide the needed time for a petitioner
to gather necessary data, analyze the data, and timely
respond to any application for a change in any rate, fare,
or charge,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it goes on record as unanimously
supporting H.R. 1724 and urging its enactment into law.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit true copies of
this resolution to the Honorable George Ariyoshi, Governor
of the State of Hawaii; the Honorable Daniel K. Inouye,
United States Senator; the Honorable Hiram Fong, United
States Senator; the Honorable Spark Matsunaga, United States
Representative; the Honorable Patsy T. Mink, United States
Representative; the U. S . Congressional Committee on Public
Works and Transportation; the Honorable Herbert T. Matayoshi,
Mayor of the County of Hawaii; the Honorable Frank F. Fasi,
Mayor of the City and County of Honolulu; the Honorable
Elmer Cravalho, Mayor of the County of Maui; and the Honorable
Eduardo Malapit, Mayor of the County of Kauai.
