WHEREAS, the Hawaii State Joint Apprenticeship Committee
in cooperation with the various contractors associations and
the Carpenters Union Local '45, recently 10:.,1d its 6th annual
Statewide Carpentry contes,. for senior carpenter apprentices
in Honolulu, and
WHEREAS, GEORGE C. OKADA, aged 30, a resident of
Mt. Vie , Aawaii, and employed by Constructors ii as
a foreman, was Hilo's entry at this two-day event: and
WHEREAS, after demonstrating his overall superiority
over 17 other com2eting apprentice carpenters, GEORGE C.
OKADA was judged the State's top carpenter for 1975; and
WHEREAS, a perpetual trophy and a $500 cast prize was
presented to GEORGE C. CKADA by Governor George Ariyo3hi
in addition to a free round-trip to any Island via Aloha
Airlines at the awards banquet; and
WHEREAS, GEORGE C. OKADA also received %is journeyman's
status after fulfilling his apprenticeship requirements
which included 8030 hours of on-the-job training and 57C
related school hours; and
WHEREAS, GEORGE C. OKADA will travel to Milwaukee
this November to compete in the international carpentry
contest which draws participants from the mainland and Canada,

NOW, THEREFORE, B. IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it takes this means to congratulate
GEORGE C. OKADA on being named the State's top carpenter
of 1975 and continued success in the up-coming international
carpentry competition to be held in !viilwauhee.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii he and is hereby directed to transmic true copies
of this resolution to MORGE C. 0I(ADA and to his employer,
Constructors Hawaii.
