This project is to continue to control and eradicate coqui frog infestations in the North Kohala District. Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the HDOA for these funds. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $49,896 to the Department of Research and Development's North Kohala Coqui Frog Control project account. The Department of Research and Development is requesting that this bill be waived from Finance Committee and be placed on the April 24, 2019 Council agenda in order to expedite the receipt of these funds. Since 2003, community-led efforts have provided volunteers, equipment, chemincals, and financial resources to effectively respond where other communities have given way.
