Re:,Resolution for multi-year lease
The County of Hawaii Fire Department currently leases property at 95-1163 Ka`alaiki
Road,Na`alehu, Hawaii. The Department seeks to enter into a five (5) year lease
extension with an option for an additional two (2) years.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the County to enter into a five-year, multi-year lease
agreement with Maui Varieties Investments, Inc. to continue using this location for the
Na`alehu ambulance unit of the County of Hawai`i Fire Department. The anticipated rent
shall be $1,845.16 per month.
The Finance Department's Property Management Division requests that this resolution be
waived from the Finance Committee, and be placed on the April 24, 2019 Council
Agenda in order to expedite this transaction. If there are any questions, please feel free to

A. REQUEST:
Prepare County Council submittal authorizing the County of Hawaii Fire Department to enter into a Third
Amended Lease Agreement for a five year extension to utilize the premises for the Naalehu Amulance unit.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The County of Hawaii Fire Department currently utilizes the premises consisting of 1,026 square feet owned
by Maui Varieties Investments, Inc., identified as a portion of tax map key(3) 9-5-021:026 for the Naalehu
Ambulance unit. The County has occupied the premises to serve the Naalehu and surrounding community
since June 15, 2005. The proposed amendment will be for a five year period from May 1, 2019 to April 30,
2024 with an option for an additional two years.

RE: Resolution No. 135-19 : RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PAYMENT OF
FUNDS OF A LATER FISCAL YEAR AND OF MORE THAN ONE FISCAL YEAR
FOR A MULTI-YEAR LEASE OF REAL PROPERTY.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i,this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
