WHEREAS, the Award of Merit is the highest honor accorded
annually to citizens for outstanding service in scouting and in
community affairs; and
WHEREAS, ROY GOYA, an equipment superintendent for Yamada
Transfer Company, has been named the recipient of this Award
for 1975; and
WHEREAS, ROY GOYA, active in the scouting movement for the
past 12 years, has served in various capacities such as Cub
Master, Committeeman, Committeeman Chairman and Institutional
Representative for Ernest B. De Silva School; and
WHEREAS, while seldom in the limelight to receive credit
for his hard work, ROY GOYA has been the key individual responsible
for getting things done in an efficient and dedicated fashion; and
WHEREAS, as a lover of sports, he believes that scouting
is compatible and complementary with athletics, and that this
fact has Seen borne out by the Lagle Scouts sportsmen who have
emerged from his unit; and
WHEREAS, ROY GOYA has also served as a Director of the
Hawaii Community College Diesel Shop, a member of the Society of
Automotive Engineers, a member of the Ainako Kumiai, Cancer drive
captain, a member of the Hilo Hongwanji Mission and a member of
the Ernest B. De Silva School PTA.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY
OF HAWAII that it takes this means to recognize and extend
congratulations to ROY GOYA for being accorded the Award of Merit
by the Boy Scouts of America.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit a true copy of
this resolution to ROY GOYA.
