WHEREAS, RONALD SAIKI , a County of Hawaii District
Overseer, has captured the State physical fitness leadership
award after being named the Big Island winner by the Hilo
Jaycees; and
WHEREAS, RONALD SAIKI, 57, was selected for this award
over other Jaycee chapter nominees throughout the State and
was recognized at a banquet in Honolulu; and
WHEREAS, RONALD SAIKI is deeply involved with the youth
of the Keaukaha/Panaewa communities in all aspects of athletic
development and promotion; and
WHEREAS, he was instrumental in making Pop Warner Football
a reality in Keaukaha by recruiting 11 coaches to tutor teams
in three divisions which have annexed several Big Island
championships; and
WHEREAS, RONALD SAIKI was directly responsible for
organizing and coordinating T-Ball, Midget Minor and Senior
Little League Baseball in the Keaukaha Catholic Youth Organiza-
tion; and
WHEREAS, under the guidance of RONALD SAIKI, Keaukaha
Elementary School began participating in the Parks and Recreation
Age and Exponent Track Meets with some 50 to 60 children
involved; and

WHEREAS, when certain sports activities were in jeopardy
because of financial problems, RONALD SAIKI was responsible
for the formation of the "Na 0 Pio Keaukaha" (The Youth of
Keaukaha) organization which works towards the securing of
uniforms, equipment and all other worthwhile auxiliary
activities,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE
COUNTY OF HAWAII that it extend its congratulations and best
wishes to RONALD SAIKI on being named the recipient of the
State physical fitness leadership award.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of
Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit true copies of
this resolution to RONALD SAIKI and Paul Pakele, President of
the Hilo Jaycees.
