HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 527 Draft 01 1972-1976 County of Hawaii—State of Hawaii Resolution No. s` '7 WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States and the State of Hawaii have recognized the growing and imperative need for Vocational Education and have provided broader concepts of vocational, career, and manpower education to prepare individuals for the world of work; and WHEREAS, through the increased emphasis in reaching out to prepare individuals to enter employment, many new programs are now available to assist individuals in reaching their occupational goals; and WHEREAS, the American Vocational Association, by representa- tive assembly, has established the second week of February as "Vocational Education Week" and is supported by Hawaii vocational groups in this endeavor; and WHEREAS, the ultimate success of this endeavor rests with each and every individual who is concerned with providing training opportunities through a comprehensive educational curriculum for all students; and WHEREAS, Vocational Education serves secondary, post-secondary school youth, as well as adults; in preparing them for occupations in Agriculture, Business and Office, Marketing and Distribution, Vocational Home Economics, Trades and Industries, Health Occupations, Industrial Arts, Technical Education and through the efforts of Vocational Guidance and Counseling by assisting individuals to reach their occupational goals, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in recognition of February 8 through 14, 1976, which is NATIONAL VOCATIONAL EDUCATION WEEK in the County of Hawaii, all citizens of this great community be urged to visit their local high schools and community college and programs, thereby making themselves better acquainted with the services offered by these dedicated institutions to the extent that each citizen can benefit from these services. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County of Hawaii be and is hereby directed to transmit a certified copy of this Resolution to Mr. Mitsugu Sumada, Provost, Hawaii Community College.
