The regular meeting of the Committee on Agriculture, Water, Energy,

Environmental Management was called to order at 10:12 a.m., in the

The Chair directed the Committee to proceed to the next order of business,

The Chair called Dwight J. Vicente, who registered to comment regarding
Comm. 193, and came forward when called.
CHR. RICHARDS: Thank you, Mr. Vicente. I will close public testimony, thank

COMMUNI- The Chair directed the Committee to proceed to the next order of business,
CATIONS: Communications.
Comm. 193: NOMINATION OF DR. JOHN BURNS TO THE ENVIRONMENTAL
MANAGEMENT COMMISSION
From Mayor Harry Kim, dated March 20, 2019, submitting for the Council's
review and confirmation the above nomination.
Requires Council
Confirmation by: May 3, 2019 (Section 13-4(1),
Hawaii County Charter)
AWEEMC-4 April 9, 2019
(Note: At this time, Executive Assistant to the Mayor Rose Bautista
and nominee Dr. John Burns came forward to address the members of the
Committee. Ms. Bautista introduced and provided a brief narrative of the
nominee.)
Vote on Comm. 193: Ms. Poindexter moved to recommend confirmation of the
(Approved) appointment of Dr. John Burns to the Environmental Management
Commission. Seconded by Ms. Eoff and carried by the
following voice vote:

Committee Members Chung, David, Eoff,
Kaneali`i-Kleinfelder, Kierkiewicz, Lee Loy,
Poindexter, Villegas, and Chair Richards — 9.
Noes:
None.
Absent:
None.
Excused:
None.
Committee Members spoke in favor of the appointment. Chair Richards
stated that Dr. Burns is not required to attend final confirmation at full
Council.
ORDER OF The Chair directed the Committee to proceed to the next order of business,
RESOLUTIONS: Order of Resolutions.

BILLS FOR The Chair directed the Committee to proceed to the next order of business,
ORDINANCES: Bills for Ordinances.
(There were none.)
ADJOURN- There being no further business, at 10:36 a.m., Ms. Kierkiewicz moved to
MENT: adjourn the meeting. Seconded by Ms. Lee Loy and carried by the
following voice vote:
