RESOLUTION NO. 138 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HOSPICE OF HILO TO
ASSIST WITH EXPENSES FOR ITS 15TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF LIFE—
HONORING OUR ISLAND HERITAGE FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo, dba Hawai`i Care Choices, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that provides medical, social, spiritual, and end-of-life care for terminally ill
patients,their families, and their caregivers; and
WHEREAS, on Saturday, May 25, 2019 at Reed's Bay Beach Park in Hilo, Hospice of
Hilo will be hosting its 15th Annual Celebration of Life—Honoring Our Island Heritage festival
where there will be luminaries to be decorated and launched, live music, dance performances,
and food and snacks; and
WHEREAS, Hospice of Hilo is requesting funding assistance to cover operational
expenses for its 15th Annual Celebration of Life festival to include equipment rental,marketing
materials, and supplies; and
WHEREAS,the Culture and Education program of the Department of Parks and
Recreation promotes,perpetuates, and encourages activities and programs in culture, art, history,
and the humanities; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of
Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hospice of Hilo, dba Hawai`i Care Choices for
expenses related to its 15th Annual Celebration of Life—Honoring Our Island Heritage festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transferred/appropriated the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Parks and Recreation and Director of Finance, and that the Director
of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of
this resolution.
