J.`�OF M,1 d� . <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> OF•MF'- • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 146 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HO`OULU-LAHUI TO <br /> PURCHASE COMPUTERS AND INTERNET EQUIPMENT FOR KUA 0 KA LÀ NEW <br /> CENTURY PUBLIC CHARTER SCHOOL. <br /> WHEREAS, Ho`oulu-Lahui is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to <br /> perpetuate cultural traditions and practices of the ancient Hawaiians and merges traditional <br /> concepts with current technology to create a sustainable community living in harmony with the <br /> environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ho`oulu-Lahui is the support entity for Kua 0 Ka La New Century Public <br /> Charter School, which is a Hawaiian-focused charter school serving 240 students from pre- <br /> kindergarten through grade 12; and <br /> WHEREAS, in July 2018,the Kua 0 Ka La New Century Public Charter School campus <br /> was lost due to lava inundation, and the school has since faced many struggles including a <br /> temporary relocation and lack of technology that is essential for program operations; and <br /> WHEREAS, Ho`oulu-Lahui is requesting funds to purchase new computers and internet <br /> equipment for the Kua 0 Ka La New Century Public Charter School; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports youth programs and activities <br /> that encourage students to succeed in school and to avoid underage drinking and drugs; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Ho`oulu-Lahui for computers and internet equipment for <br /> Kua 0 Ka La New Century Public Charter School. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
