COUNTY OF HAWAII -'6k" %_• STATE OF HAWAII . 7rE OF•NF,'' RESOLUTION NO. 150 19 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAII FOR THE 2019 DARE DAY CELEBRATION.EVENT IN EAST HAWAII. WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. HAWAII is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established 31 years ago to teach our youth to make safe and responsible decisions,to resist alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and violence,to avoid risky situations, and to lead a safe and healthy life; and WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. HAWAII is conducting an East Hawai`i DARE Day, to commemorate the graduation of students from various schools in East Hawai`i, who complete the DARE 10-week Educational Program; and WHEREAS, students from Hilo Intermediate School will have completed the DARE 10- week Educational Program, earning the opportunity to participate in the 2019 DARE Day Celebration on May 21, 2018,to be held at Pahoa Community Center; and WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. HAWAII has requested funds to pay for transportation services for students of Hilo Intermediate School who will be attending this celebration to recognize their achievement; and WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. HAWAII has also requested funds for food and refreshments for the students attending the East Hawai`i event; and WHEREAS, one of the Hawai`i Police Department's goals is to support youth programs, such as D.A.R.E. Hawaii, that promote alcohol- and drug-free events that teach our youth how to make safe and responsible choices; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment,materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the.Hawai`i Police Department to provide a grant to D.A.R.E. HAWAII for transportation services for Hilo Intermediate School students, food, and refreshments for its 2019 DARE Day Celebration event. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
