RESOLUTION NO. 153 19
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE BOYS & GIRLS
CLUB OF THE BIG ISLAND FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS HILO AFTER-
SCHOOL PROGRAM.
WHEREAS, the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island(BGCBI) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that provides income-challenged children throughout Hawai`i Island with daily
essential programming and resources; and
WHEREAS, one of the programs developed by the BGCBI provides after-school
transportation, nutrition, tutoring, and homework support; and
WHEREAS, the BGCBI has requested funds to help defray the cost of transportation,
nutritious food,tutoring and homework support services for the qualified participants in East
Hawai`i; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports public programs that promote
drug-free and alcohol-free community programs; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 2 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to the Boys & Girls Club of the Big Island to help defray
expenses related to its after-school programs for qualified participants in East Hawai`i, including
transportation, nutritious food and tutoring and homework support services.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
