.. <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII : •� �'''°- / + STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 154 19 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE NORTH <br /> KOHALA COMMUNITY RESOURCE CENTER AS REIMBURSEMENT FOR <br /> EXPENSES INCURRED BY THE KOHALA HIGH SCHOOL VEX ROBOTICS TEAM <br /> FOR ITS ATTENDANCE AT THE 2019 VEX ROBOTICS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP <br /> COMPETITION. <br /> WHEREAS,the North Kohala Community Resource Center(NKCRC) is a 501(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization whose mission is to increase the number of successful community <br /> projects that benefit North Kohala; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Kohala High School VEX Robotics program encompasses all four <br /> pillars of STEM(science,technology, engineering, and mathematics) education as well as <br /> important life skills, such as teamwork, communication, and creative and critical thinking; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Kohala High School VEX Robotics team won the 2019 State of Hawai`i <br /> High School VEX Robotics competition on Oahu, which earned the team a berth to the VEX <br /> Robotics World Championship competition held in Louisville, Kentucky, in April 2019; and <br /> WHEREAS,NKCRC has worked with the Kohala High School VEX Robotics team to <br /> coordinate its travel, and is hereby requesting funds to reimburse the cost for registration fees for <br /> the 2019 VEX Robotics World Championship competition; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports drug- and alcohol-free <br /> programs and events that inspire youth to make positive life choices; and <br /> WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to North Kohala Community Resource Center as <br /> reimbursement for expenses incurred by the Kohala High School VEX Robotics team for its <br /> attendance at the 2019 VEX Robotics World Championship competition. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
